Time and Eternity in Orthodox Worship
By: Dr. Jane M. deVyver These few words ore offered to help people in general to have a better understanding of what Orthodox liturgical practices are supposed to convey and why. Standing in Two Worlds As soon as we step into an Orthodox church, we are stepping into another ...
Digital Natives Embrace Ancient Church
Twentysomethings captivated by Orthodoxy Tim Flinders will graduate from Grand Valley State University next month. Raised Lutheran, he also explored fundamentalist Baptism, Roman Catholicism and even Messianic Judaism before converting to Orthodox Christianity this year. “Orthodoxy has completely transformed me already,” he said. “I feel like the first time in my life I’m growing spiritually.” Flinders, 22, like many other young people converting to Eastern Orthodoxy, was looking for authenticity and historical accuracy in his Christian faith. “I had so many different questions that needed to be answered,” said Flinders, who added he wrestled with the many divisions ...

And he responds swiftly to help them. How much more will he aid and protect those fellow disciples of Jesus Christ who call upon him in faith, asking for his powerful intercession before God, and granting the gifts of healing and more through his prayers! The Monastery of St. George Koudounas This historic Monastery of Saint ...
Expiation, Blood & Atonement
by Fr. Patrick Henry Reardon Senior Editor of Touchstone Magazine, and archpriest of All Saints Orthodox Church in Chicago, IL, Fr. Patrick is, perhaps, the most erudite writer in the Orthodox Church in North America today. This article, one of his Pastoral Ponderings, was published by Orthodoxtoday.org. Among the biblical concepts supporting St. Paul’s theology of atonement, one of the most important, surely, is that of expiation. What does the Apostle mean when he writes, “God set forth [Jesus Christ] as the expiatory in His blood” (Romans 3:25)? Although this is the only time St. Paul uses the noun hilasterion, I believe that the ...
